Job summaryThis is a fantastic opportunity for two staff nurses with an interest in ophthalmology to work in the Medical Retina Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team assessing and caring for patients in the Medical Retina outpatient department at the main branch of Moorfields at City Road.
You will be expected to provide comprehensive, ongoing care and support for patients with medical retinal conditions such as Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Uveitis, Genetics related eye disease. You will also be responsible for ensuring that patients receive education and information and to work closely with the senior nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the assessment and management of care needs of patients in the Medical Retina service. They will assess patients and implement and evaluate care provision.
The post holder will act as a co-ordinator in the outpatient clinics ensuring patients are seen and assessed by all members of the multidisciplinary team. They will also supervise junior members of staff and students.
The post holder will be a key member of staff in participating in the development of care of patients attending the Medical Retina service. They will be working independently/autonomously and are accountable for their own professional actions.
