Job summary

The post holder will be a key member of the Child Health Information Services (CHIS) Team, directly reporting to the CHIS Coordinators and will take part in the day to day running of the CHIS service, the running of regular reports and ensure that CHIS data held on the system is accurate and up to date.

Main duties of the job

The North Yorkshire and York cohort is large comprising of all children aged 0-19 that live in the locality, those who are registered with a GP in the locality or who attend school in the locality.

The purpose of CHIS, and the Systems that support them, is to ensure that each child in England has an accurate active record supporting delivery of public health interventions including; screening and childhood and adolescent immunisations for which detailed service specifications are set out in the annual NHS Public Health Functions Agreement, and the Healthy Child Programme services.CHIS is responsible for the managing of data and statistical information which supports the provision of services of children and young people aged 0-19. This includes notifications of new births and babies moving in and out of the area, requesting records, updating the child health system with movements in and out.

CHIS links with Maternity services to receive initial birth details and NHS numbers and provides a central repository and failsafe for the Newborn Blood Spot Screening Programme and supports the local delivery of the national Antenatal and New Born Screening and Immunisation Programmes.
