Seeking a proactive and experienced Diagnostic Prostate Cancer Service/Focal Admin Team Leader to oversee the admin functions within our diagnostic prostate cancer services department and to coordinate and book Focal treatments and biopsies for our cancer patients.
An experienced pathway coordinator seeking to enhance skills and knowledge within Urology Department, fixed 12-month period starting Nov 2024.

A keen team player, a key part of a large administrative team working closely with and providing a high-quality service to your consultants and clinical teams. Act as the primary point of contact for colleagues, patients, relatives and other organisations. Responsible for managing the patient pathway and ensure that key operational standards are met (CWT, access/waiting times, activity and theatre utilisation targets, etc).

Seeking a proactive and experienced Diagnostic Prostate Cancer Service/Focal Admin Team Leader to oversee the admin functions within our diagnostic prostate cancer services department and to coordinate and book Focal treatments and biopsies for our cancer patients. The successful candidate will lead a team of administrative staff, ensuring efficient and effective support for clinical operations.

This post involves working closely with patients and staff in various departments, so you will need a flexible professional approach, excellent organisational and time management skills together with an excellent standard of verbal and written communication.

In addition, you will deal with enquiries both over the phone and in person, with incoming and outgoing post on a daily basis, along with assisting and supporting other members of the team to ensure the smooth running of the secretariat.

Lead and manage the administrative team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.

  • Coordinate and oversee daily administrative operations to ensure smooth functioning.
  • Implement and maintain efficient office procedures and systems.
  • Manage staff schedules, leave, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to streamline processes and improve service delivery.
  • Handle complex patient queries and complaints with professionalism and empathy.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Oversee/Cover bookings and scheduling for diagnostic prostate services such as 2ww prostate biopsies.
  • Bookings for focal prostate treatments including High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), NanoKnife, and Cryotherapy.
  • Management and actioning of focal wait lists
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.


Essential Qualifications And Experience


  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare administration setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in using healthcare-related software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of NHS standards and practices is highly desirable.
