We deliver early intervention, health promotion & build therapeutic relationships to empower families, children & young people to make the best choices, improve health outcomes, an opportunity has arisen for Staff Nurses to work with children & families from antenatal to 19 years to work within our Single Point of Access “Just One Number”.

The Staff Nurse role is an opportunity to work within the Healthy Child Service and then to progress onto applying for the Health Visitor/School Nursing training.

You will be self-motivated, able to demonstrate empathy and enjoy working in a fast paced, friendly environment. It is important that you have strong communication and leadership skills and be able to demonstrate experience of partnership working with proven ability to innovate and find solutions in delivering a safe and effective service.

Just One Number operates 6 days a week, Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm and Saturdays 9am – 1pm.

Successful applicants will be expected to work a rotating weekly shift pattern, comprising of weekday and occasional Saturday shifts. See JD for more details.

As part of the Healthy Child Programme, the Staff Nurse will work within the single point of access, this role will be predominantly clinical triage of new referrals, telephone and digital support for clients/service users, undertaking of initial assessments, delegation of cases within the team or transfer out to locality/specialist pathway, signposting or supporting onward referrals.

Their role is to provide a child centred, inclusive, holistic and accessible Public Health programme to children aged 0-19, their families and communities, establishing links with children, families, schools, communities and agencies.

They promote the physical and emotional well-being of children, and young people, supporting them to establish good health now and in the future. They promote early intervention, health promotion, advocacy, empowerment, social inclusion and the reduction of health inequalities.

The role will also include responding to messages on Parent line our text messaging service for parents and Chat health our text messaging service for young people aged 11-19.
