To make appointments for the various clinicians using the Practice clinical information system.

To greet patients in a professional, friendly and courteous manner at all times

To answer telephone calls in a polite and professional manner

To locate relevant information for patients (test results, letters, forms etc) and direct their queries to the appropriate staff member.

Answering patient queries regarding various Practice policies and initiatives

Advise patients when completing new patient registration forms, explaining the surgery policies

To listen to patient complaints, making sure that they are addressed and dealt with appropriately

Email correspondence as requested and record, in line with practice policy

To process correspondence accurately in line with practice policies

Process repeat prescriptions as per the Practice policy

Ensure all forms are passed to the appropriate destination and completed and checked by yourself when required

Receiving and recording requests for home visits in line with expected standards

Receiving, recording and booking requests for transport

Direct accurate patient information to the appropriate clinician using EMIS Web

To cover duties for other members of staff, this may arise in the case of absence, sickness and holidays

Chaperone GP if required, following training

Shared responsibility for reception, waiting rooms and consulting rooms upkeep and tidiness including leaflets and posters

To ensure that strict confidentiality protocols are adhered to

Attend and contribute to staff meetings

To comply with Health & Safety Procedures and report any areas of concern to the Practice Business Manager

Opening and closing of premises when required

To undertake any other duties as may be determined from time to time to ensure the efficient running of the Practice.

Promote, encourage and activate patient on-line access

Ensure relevant/appropriate contacts with patients are documented in notes

Ensure email, tasks, Docman and EMIS email are checked and processed daily.

GP Surgery Medical Receptionist/Administrator in an established, family oriented surgery, with a welcoming, friendly, fun and supportive staff team. We have 14,500 patients and are set in central Wimbledon.

Medical Receptionists are held in high regard and are a key part of the practice team. We are looking to recruit for around 15-26 hours per week. Both morning and afternoon shifts will be required. Morning shifts start at 8am, afternoon shifts finishing at 6.30pm.You will have excellent communication skills and attention to detail along with plenty of enthusiasm. You will be ideally be confident and competent with IT. You will be professional and be able to interact positively with patients to provide a consistently high level of patient satisfaction. You must be punctual, reliable, flexible and able to multi-task. There are often opportinities to progress through the organisation, if this is something that apeals to you. The post includes optional membership of the NHS pension scheme and membership to a staff perks package.

It is a busy working environment where you will need to be able to multi task and communicate clearly and effectively.

For the majority of the shifts you will be answering calls/liaising with patients face to face and local organisations like pharmacies or hospitals, directing patients to the appropriate clinician appointments, locating results and relevant information. For the the rest of your shift you will be processing emails and patient related correspondence or paperwork and undertaking tasks that clinicians have requested.

You will need to project a positive, professional and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Being able to work well under pressure whilst being courteous, efficient and effective is essential.
