Job summary

Do you want to work in an inspiring service for children, young people and families across West Sussex. Are you hard working, dynamic and forward thinking? If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you!

Do you feel you have the skills and knowledge to screen, assess, monitor and advise families who are seeking support for their children who are struggling with neuro-divergence?

The NDP team is a new pathway designed to assess the local needs of young people presenting with ADHD and ASC symptoms.

This is an exciting time to be joining NDP and we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic clinician who is passionate about working with young people and their families.

We are currently looking to recruit a band 5 mental health practitioner to work in NDP supporting the assessment and monitoring of children diagnosed with ADHD/ASC. The successful candidate will be a registered health professional .

Our preceptorship programme is designed specifically for you if you are a newly qualified clinician, to support you in that transition.

Through supervision and assessment you will be supported to practice safely and build your confidence.

Main duties of the job

Within the NDP team we receive referrals direct into the service. Following our pathway model, we screen, assess, diagnose and medicate those diagnosed with ADHD. For those young people with ASC we assess, diagnose and signpost those with ASC to local services which provide support and advice in this area.

As band 5 NDP mental health practitioner you will work within an neurodevelopmental team which will include assessments, reviewing young people with ADHD diagnosis, monitoring the effectiveness of medication, changes in mental health presentation, physical observations and responding to clinical concerns or escalation of ADHD driven behaviours raised by other agencies or the families themselves. Within your role you will have access to the MDT to discuss clinical issues including medical advice with a doctor.

The team is proud of the difference we make to young people and their families lives. As a high demand service we are also looking for someone who is organised and good at prioritising work-loads based on presenting needs and risk whilst focussing at all times on the quality of care we provide in a person-centred way.

About us

Our community services are undergoing a real transformation and you could be part of these exciting developments.

We recognise that working in the Neurodevelopmental service can be demanding. We prioritise staff welfare, providing regular supervision, reflective practice, mentoring, and any other support that our clinicians need to ensure their wellbeing.

If you are a band 5 or newly qualified nurse or occupational therapist with previous CAMHS/ mental health experience who has a desire to develop into a NDP mental health practitioner role, then please contact us as we would be delighted to talk with you about any development opportunities.

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.

This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).
