Drug Checking & EDTS Senior Support Worker inGlasgow inGlasgow PUBLISHED 22 JUL 2024

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

The shift pattern is 37 hours over 7 days, as per NHS rostering policy.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Lead Pharmacist, ADRS, on the development, implementation and operational aspects of the new Glasgow Drug Checking Service (GDCS), and the ongoing work within the Enhanced Drug Treatment Service (EDTS). Drug checking services are confidential and anonymous and aim to help to reduce the potential harm, including drug related death, associated with drug use. They provide those who use drugs with targeted, informed, harm reduction advice based on the result of the analysis of a sample of drugs they intend to use. The Enhanced Drug Treatment (EDTS) Service was established following an extensive health needs assessment in response to an HIV outbreak (2.

This service is an extension to existing addiction services, and aims to reduce individual and community drug related harm primarily within a significant population who inject drugs in public places within Glasgow City centre. The service prescribes diamorphine for supervised self-administration, and is designed to engage patients with the broader health and social services, whilst offering a highly structured, intensive specialist treatment in which patients are closely monitored and regularly reviewed. This role will be both exciting and challenging and we are looking for a professional, highly motivated, confident and organised individual to play a key role as part of the GDCS / EDTS pharmacy team. This post is a full time post and requires an individual with the ability to participate in a 7 day flexible rota, working weekends, bank holidays and providing emergency cover when necessary.
