To be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Inpatient Unit and Community Hospice departments, including all nursing staff and clinical area volunteers, carrying out risk assessments as required, ensuring that the services are cost effective and equitable for all service user groups and that the Hospices strategic vision and operational objectives are achieved.

To demonstrate a high level of competence and lead on patient-focused care as a positive role model, demonstrating the Hospices core values.

To work collaboratively with members of the Hospices multi-disciplinary team, and the wider health and social care system, to ensure coordinated, integrated care across service boundaries.

To monitor the standards of care and professional practice delivered to patients and their families to safeguard and improve standards.

To seek continuous improvement in nursing practice including influencing and developing policy and clinical guidelines.

St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking a Clinical Services Manager to lead our Inpatient Unit and Community Hospice teams, ensuring that the Hospice's strategic vision and operational objectives are achieved through high-quality patient-centred care.

This is an exciting new role, with potential development opportunities including becoming the Hospice's CQC Registered Manager and Accountable Officer in the future, subject to succession planning needs.

In this post, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Inpatient Unit and Community Hospice departments, including all nursing staff and clinical area volunteers, ensuring that the services are cost-effective and equitable for all service user groups and that the Hospices strategic vision and operational objectives are achieved.

Essential qualifications and skills include:

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, and first-level degree in a relevant field

Post-registration experience in at least an NHS Agenda for Change Band 6 or equivalent position, in a role with a strong emphasis on palliative care

Experience of running a ward, department, or service, and managing budgets

Excellent clinical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

Strong leadership and motivational skills

Understanding of clinical governance, and Quality Improvement models
