We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic paediatric nurse with High Dependency nursing experience who would like to develop their leadership skills in this permanent post. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years Band 5 experience working within a paediatric HDU and completion of the HDU Course. Excellent communication skills and a strong approach to teamwork are vital for this role. A proven track record of undertaking the Acting Team Leader role is essential.
Undertake a comprehensive assessment of care
Develop clinical expertise in all aspects of care
Ensure evidence based/best practice
Monitor & develop standards of nursing care within the Clinical Governance Framework
Ensure Trust policies & procedures are understood & adhered to
Demonstrates professional accountability underpinned by the NMC
Generate new ideas for the improvement of the service.
Co-ordinate the unit, maintain safety and deliver quality care
Support the Team Leader in staff issues relating to sickness, absence, poor performance, staff development
Undertake delegated responsibility for specific areas of operational management
Responsible for the maintenance of patient records
Establish & maintain effective communication with patients, relatives & professionals across health & social services
Work collaboratively & co-operatively
Participate in pre & post registration training programmes
Attend mandatory & statutory training, ensure own clinical skills are maintained
Participate in staff development & performance review systems
Support & supervision of junior staff & students
Promote evidence based practice
Report accidents & incidents
Produce legible & accurate nursing records in line with trust & professional body guidelines
Deliver care that is sensitive to the needs of a diverse client base
