The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
- Assist health care professionals in the treatment provided to patients during outpatient clinics by working effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives to ensure patients are kept well informed of any changes / delays to their appointment time.
- Communicate effectively with clerical, nursing, and medical staff to facilitate good working relationships in areas of mutual contact.
- Have responsibility for the collection and testing of urine samples and measuring and recording patient’s weight, height and blood pressure. Report any abnormalities immediately to the nurse in charge.
- Act in the best interest of the patients always.
- When required, assist patients with their mobility needs within the Trust’s Moving and Handling Policy.
- Chaperone and assist medical staff during intimate examinations of patients.

The Health Care Assistant is a member of the Outpatients nursing team involved in clinical and non-clinical duties in the Outpatients Department. The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the smooth running of outpatients clinics, he/she will support the health care professional in caring for patients and relatives who visit the department.
