Administrative Assistant (Tuition Fees)
An exciting full time position has arisen for an Administrative Assistant to join the Finance Professional Services Income Team.
You will provide an administrative service to the Finance Service Unit, engaging in and completing a range of routine tasks to meet operational and customer service requirements. Provide support and guidance on tuition fee queries, ensure the Tuition Fee Income team is supported, and key duties undertaken.
The successful candidate will be customer focused, organised, possess very good Excel, written and oral communication skills, and be able to coordinate effective team working as well as working on your own initiative. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential. You should have significant experience of working in an office environment, (experience of the Higher Education sector being an advantage, but not essential). You should possess excellent IT skills (across all MS Office packages) and customer service experience.
The post is full time (35 hours per week), open ended and available immediately.
Salary: £23,700 – £24,533 per annum (Grade 3)

Key Duties
- Deal with a range of enquires from internal (staff & students) and external (members of the public) customers in a professional manner, establishing their needs and adapting the standard responses accordingly.
- Work with others to make recommendations for the development and improvement of current University processes and procedures.
- Create good working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department.
- Gather and review data to update administrative systems such as databases and spreadsheets, making sure the information is accurate, and highlighting to your line manager basic trends and patterns.
- Actively contribute to the success of the team and support the supervision and management of it.
Specific Duties
- To complete the reconciliation and transfer of payments made by students through their SIMS online account.
- To obtain data from schools and update student sponsorship details in SIMS.
- To produce and process journal adjustments on student records to show internal sponsorship payment of their fees.
- To draw up and action refunds as requested.
General Duties
- Abide by all University policies and undergo appropriate personal and professional development.
- Perform other duties which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.
- Uphold the Professional Services Values & Behaviours or local equivalent.
