The Post
This post is within Patient Services Directorate, the Directorate provides clinical, technical, and scientific services and advice. There are four hospital Blood Banks located strategically across NHS Scotland, including services to provide Immunohaematology reference work, Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics in support of donors and transplantation, Clinical Apheresis and delivery of the Transfusion Team programme across Scotland.
The Candidate
We are currently seeking to recruit Health Care Support Workers – various contract options are available. You will be trained to carry out a range of general duties to provide vital support for the Specialist Healthcare Scientists in our busy Clinical Laboratory.
No relevant experience is required as full training will be given.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. Details of how to apply for, or to update, PVG Scheme membership/Disclosure will be supplied to successful candidates.
Please be advised that this post does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore NHS National Services Scotland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
Location and Working Pattern:
This post will be based in the Blood Transfusion Laboratory, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The working pattern for this post is Monday to Sunday, 37 hours per week.
Once the successful candidate is trained there will be a requirement to participate in 24/7 out of hours shift work.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
