Job Summary
Maternity Leave Cover: Dietetic Assistant, Band 3 - 22.5 hours per week
Interview date: TBC Main duties of the job
To be the key link between the Dietetic team and the Catering and nursing teams.To work alongside material management and e-procurement and be responsible for the ordering, receiving, distribution and stock control of specialist Dietetic products on the wards and within the dietetic department.
Undertake teaching and education sessions to nursing staff on nutritional screening, basic nutrition support and utilisation of therapeutic diets. To regularly audit the completion of MUST on the wards, and support nursing staff to undertake this on a weekly basis.
Undertake teaching and education sessions to patients (once you passed appropriate competency levels as assessed by dietetics) on a range of chronic diseases and weight reduction.
To regularly audit work to be able to promote the impact of the teaching on health outcomes.

Education/ Qualification Essential
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English
- Basic IT qualification
- 1 A level or NVQ at level 3 in a nutrition related area or BTEC award
- Food hygiene certificate
- Facilitator training
- Awareness and understanding of NHS standards, relevant NHS initiatives
- Awareness and understanding of confidentiality/data protection
- Understanding of social and cultural issues
- Knowledge of adult protection procedures/issues
- Basic knowledge of nutrition
- Understanding of catering/food service
- Understanding and awareness of local area/local health services.
- Awareness/understanding of NICE guidelines, CQC, NSF, Better Hospital Food Programme
- Excellent verbal communication and customer care skills
- Good written skills/record keeping
- IT skills - use of basic IT systems - word processing, excel, email.
