As a Pharmacy Support Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medicines, supporting healthcare teams, and contributing to the overall improvement of pharmaceutical services. About The Role

This role combines hands-on patient care with behind-the-scenes responsibilities to support the safe, effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines. You’ll:

• Help manage medicines shortages and unlicensed medicine authorisation requests and maintain accurate prescribing data in systems like Scriptswitch.
• Collect, collate, and analyse prescribing information to improve medicines management.
• Support GP practices, care homes, and community pharmacies to optimise prescribing and ensure patients have access to the medicines they need.
• Be part of innovative initiatives that enhance patient care and transform the way we deliver pharmaceutical services.
  
  

Based at Allermuir Health Centre, you’ll also spend time in GP practices during your training. Travel across NHS Lothian will occasionally be required.

About You

You should bring:

• Pharmacy and/or previous healthcare experience is essential. A passion for patient care: Experience working with the public or patients is beneficial.
• Great communication skills: You’ll liaise with healthcare professionals and patients alike.
• Organisational abilities: You’ll manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
• Tech-savviness: Basic computer literacy is essential, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn new systems.
• A willingness to work towards a SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF Level 6) if not already achieved.
