This will involve working closely with the Psychologists to develop resources, evaluate the new service and offer feedback on the developments, support relevant clinical work, as well as become involved in the development of processes. We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated psychology graduates to join our well-established Department of Medical Psychology.
The department is friendly, supportive, and flexible. The team includes clinical and counselling psychologists, trainees, assistants, and excellent admin/clerical support. We place great emphasis on supervision and personal development, which is possible through working within a Psychology department. We meet regularly for case presentations, clinical governance, and business meetings.

Main duties of the job
This role is being funded by Macmillan to help with the setting up of a new psychological service to cancer patients.
As the team develops the team will be liaising with existing services, creating pathways and policies and thinking creatively about how the team should function. It is hoped the Assistant will be involved in this and also be available to collate information about existing services and interventions. The Assistant will also be integral in setting up the data collection requirements and reporting these to Macmillan.
As the role develops it is hoped the assistant will be able to support with clinical work, creating patient information, inputting to treatment plans and help with the development and dissemination of staff training and supervision packages. As the role is new this is an initial list of potential areas of work, but this is likely to expand once the team are in operation.
The Assistant will receive regular supervision and be a member of the Medical Psychology team and so have the benefit of working with Psychologists working in other areas of Medical Psychology.
