Job description
An exciting opportunity is available for HCA's to join the Maternity Team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. The role will involve supporting registered Midwives in caring for mum's and babies on the Delivery Suite and Maternity Ward, supporting the Midwife in Maternity Triage and being part of the Maternity Theatre Team on Delivery Suite.
The post involves assisting staff in the efficient running of the Delivery Suite predominately, whilst also supporting the Theatre and Ward areas. We are looking for experienced HCA's who can be part of the team providing great maternity care, ensuring the Delivery Suite is clean and well prepared for women arriving to give birth. The role involves shift work, including days, nights and weekend working. The post holder needs to have NVQ2 in Healthcare or be recruited on an apprenticeship scheme.

We would consider an apprentice position for this vacancy.

- Maintain stock levels and general housekeeping duties of the department(s).
- Be aware of the need for safety of patients, staff and visitors at all times.
- Report any hazards to the person in charge, completing incident reports as necessary.
- Support with reception and welcoming patients and relatives in the clinical area.
- Ensure adequate supplies of laundry and dispose of any dirty laundry according to policy.
- Assist the Registered Midwife and theatre team in administering direct patient care acting as a runner to scrub nurse.
- Prepare and maintain the theatre environment ready for immediate use.
- Clean and restock infant resusitaires for use.
