The Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Trafford Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) at Crossgate House, Sale. This role focuses on supporting older adults, particularly those living with dementia and other mental health needs, through a variety of psychological and neuropsychological assessments and interventions. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to working with this demographic and ideally possess experience in multidisciplinary environments.
This fixed-term position, covering maternity leave until June 2025, involves collaborating with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and therapists, to ensure that psychological support is integrated into treatment plans. The successful applicant will contribute to both neuropsychological evaluations and interventions for patients with cognitive impairments, as well as providing support for older adults without cognitive issues. The Trust offers a collaborative atmosphere with opportunities for professional development and networking within the field of older adult mental health care.
Applications are invited from Clinical / Counselling Psychologists enthusiastic about working within the Trafford Older Adults CMHT. This established team supports people living with dementia and older people with mental health needs. This post is based within the CMHT at Crossgate House, Sale.
Clinical work will involve conducting a range of psychological and neuropsychological assessments and interventions. Applicants will be able to demonstrate experience or a high level of enthusiasm/commitment to working with older people with or without dementia. Experience of working within multidisciplinary environments will also be an advantage.
Within the organisation we have a strong and significant network of older adult psychological therapists who work together and meet regularly. The Older Adult Psychology staff have good links with the Northwest clinical psychology training programmes as well as Northwest and National FPOP.
Please be advised that this role is on a fixed term contract in order to cover current maternity leave until June 2025.
You will work with the welcoming Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, which comprises of Doctors, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners, trainee CBT for Psychosis workers, Support Time and Recovery Workers, and our team of Administrators.
The role will consist of ensuring there is a psychological presence within the MDT to ensure that psychological interventions are considered and treatment options are available to our patients.
The role will consist of completing neuropsychological assessments and interventions for patients who may have cognitive impairment to support their diagnosis and treatment process.
The role will also consist of supporting patients who may be older adults without cognitive impairment, with psychological assessment and intervention.
