We have an exciting opportunity for an Orthodontic Dental Nurse to join our modern, well-established private orthodontic practice. The successful candidate will become part of a skilled team, led by a specialist orthodontist, working alongside an orthodontic therapist and a team of fully trained orthodontic nurses, all under the supervision of the specialist orthodontist.


Position Details


  • Working Hours:
    • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with 1-hour lunch)
    • Friday: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (with 30-minute lunch)
    • Occasional late-night Mondays and Saturday shifts by prior arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide high-quality orthodontic nursing, assisting the orthodontist or therapist in all procedures in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with the British Dental Association’s Code of Ethics and the GDC’s Scope of Practice.
  • Maintain professional indemnity and registration with the GDC.
  • Complete CPD as required by GDC guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Treatment Coordinator to promote marketing initiatives based on patient feedback.
  • Adhere to practice policies and procedures.
  • Foster productive working relationships with all team members.
  • Ensure your own health and safety and that of others in the workplace.
  • Assist with reception duties and administrative tasks as needed.


Core Tasks:


  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures within the practice.
  • Set up and prepare treatment rooms for patients.
  • Ensure equipment and instruments are in good working order and maintained regularly.
  • Cut and prepare retainers in our on-site lab.
  • Safely segregate and dispose of waste as per practice protocols.
  • Assist in taking radiographs, depending on your level of training.
  • Decontaminate and maintain equipment as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic treatments.
  • Prepare dental materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and secure patient records.
  • Report equipment failures to the practice manager.
  • Participate in annual training for medical emergencies and CPR.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Minimum of 3 years GDC registration, with at least 1 year of experience as an orthodontic nurse.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • A positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with both patients and team members.


Salary & Benefits:

  • Education: Secondary education.
  • Licence: Valid GDC registration.
