NHS Scotland is seeking a dedicated Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker for a full-time position in Ward 32 of Kirkcaldy. The ideal candidate should possess a compassionate nature and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a busy acute ward setting, which caters especially to patients with various medical conditions including diabetes and neurology. Key responsibilities include supporting nursing staff, engaging in effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, and assisting with the transfer and discharge of patients. Candidates should also be working towards an SVQ level 3, be open to ongoing training, and demonstrate competency in clinical skills.

This role requires the flexibility to work 11.5-hour shifts, including day and night patterns. Additional points include a gradual transition to a reduced 37-hour workweek by April 2024, while pay will remain unchanged. Prospective employees must join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and confirm their eligibility to work in the UK. An exciting opportunity has become available in Ward 32 for a keen and dedicated Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker.

We currently have 1 full time post available.

Ward 32 are looking to recruit a HCSW with a compassionate, caring nature who will focus on the delivery of high quality care in a very busy, acute Ward environment.

We care for patients with a variety of medical conditions particularly diabetes, endocrine, neurology and general medical illnesses.

You Will Also Be

Dedicated and motivated in providing exceptional patient focused care
Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
Work well within a multi disciplinary team and individually
Support the staff nurses and ward team
You will be fully supported in the induction of your role, allowing you to attend relevant training, you must also be committed to your own professional development
Be competent in practicing a variety of clinical skills (can be discussed at interview)
Have, or working towards SVQ level 3
Assist in the safe transfer and discharge of patients in ward 43, requiring appropriate communication with the relevant MDT and professionals out with the hospital setting.
Have a knowledge of tissue viability with up to date training in this speciality

The post requires the holder to work an 11.5 hour shift including both Dayshift and Nightshift working patterns.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
