Job Summary

  • To work within the Clinical Support Team to deliver high quality administrative services to designated clinical services.
  • Track designated patients throughout their pathway, from point of entry, escalating issues promptly, in order to ensure compliance with waiting time standards.
  • Support the coordination of national and local audits by effective data collection as required.
  • To capture and submit data on waiting times, referrals, income and maintaining standards for clinical failsafe of patients under the care of the Ophthalmology service.
  • Follow existing TRUST policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage risk of harm to Ophthalmology patients as part of the Risk Management Strategy
  • To investigate incidents/complaints and make recommendations for quality improvement and safety initiatives.
  • To be responsible for providing administrative support to Clinical Teams
  • To ensure that every patient pathway is tracked to be diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible, ensuring this is achieved within relevant RTT standards.
  • Maintain an up-to-date record of patient tracking and escalations must be kept on the Trust database.
  • To support the Team Leader and Service Manager to ensure all administrative process are delivered including data and evidence collection for relevant national audits.
  • Process and respond to any funding refusal or data requests from the CCG; especially related to continuous funding forms for high-cost drugs and cataract PPWTs
  • Ensure waiting times are effectively monitored, accurately updated and reported to the management team, using a patient tracking list (PTL)
  • To oversee utilisation of clinics to ensure that all capacity is used to the full extent and flag any issues to the service manager
  • Take responsibility for own professional development.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duty, which is appropriate to the band, when requested by Senior Staff.
