The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a motivated Band 2 Theatre Assistant/Health Care Support Worker to join the Day Surgery Unit at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny. The successful candidate will assist qualified staff in providing safe pre and post-operative care to patients across various surgical disciplines, including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, and more. Key responsibilities include performing and recording observations, preparing patients for theatre, escorting them, and maintaining a clean ward area. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 2 Theatre Assistant/ Health Care Support Worker to join our team at Nevil Hall Day Surgery Unit.
The Day Surgery Unit (DSU) has a high turnover currently running 5 Theatres, specialising in a range of surgical disciplines including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Plastics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and Pain.
Main duties of the job
The role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience supporting team members within the surgical setting, assisting the qualified members of staff in providing safe pre and post operative care for patients by undertaking duties such as performing and recording accurate observations, assisting patients in the preparation for theatre, escorting patients to theatre, caring and treating patients post operatively and maintaining a clean, tidy and appropriately stocked ward area.
Appropriate training will be offered to the successful candidate in order to provide good quality individualised care.
Staff will be expected to support other sites within the health board if required. Therefore, the successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility within their service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.
Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.
