The role of Porter at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust involves safely transferring patients to and from wards and departments using various transport methods such as walking, wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds. Key responsibilities also include conveying blood specimens, patient notes, and x-rays, as well as managing the dignified removal of deceased bodies to the mortuary. Additionally, porters will assist in the transportation of seriously injured patients from ambulances or helicopters to the A&E department and handle the replacement of medical gases as required.

The position requires effective use of a task management system (HIVE) and communication via a two-way radio system to ensure the smooth operation of the portering service.
