An opportunity has become available for the position of band 6 Social Worker at The Hope Unit - inpatient CAMHS.

CAMHS experience is desirable but not essential as transferrable skills would be beneficial to the role.

Hope ward is a 12 bedded CAMHS General Adolescent Unit located at Pennine House on the Fairfield General Hospital Site. Pennine Care CAMHS inpatients is currently undergoing an exciting period of transformation and this role offers opportunity for professional development and training opportunities. We are a friendly and dynamic team.

You would have a small caseload and undertake assessments of young people’s and families complex social needs in order to identify those who require social work interventions.

Being part of an established multidisciplinary team and alongside our established social work colleague you would provide oversight and management of safeguarding and liaison with statutory services to support to the inpatient team.

This post is a specialised social work service to young people with mental health problems within the context of their families or carers.

You would provide a specialised CAMHS social work service for young people and their families who are referred to CAMHS inpatient services.

You would operate as an integral member of the Inpatient Team and actively participate in the multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of young people with complex mental health needs and their families/carers

to identify any gaps in support and make necessary referrals or requests for support.

You would be skilled in co-ordinated liaison with relevant professionals and agencies to support the development of appropriate and robust discharge plans.

There is opportunity to actively participate in the induction and teaching programmes organised for new starters, junior staff and students within the acute pathway.

You would also be a source of specialised social work advice and guidance to team members by remaining up to date with current legislation and social work practice.

You would act as an advocate for young people, ensuring that their individual rights are upheld in decisions about their care and treatment and liaise with parents and carers in order to ensure that information is communicated effectively and that they are involved, as appropriate, in decisions about their child’s care and treatment.
