The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Patient Pathway Coordinator to support consultants and specialist nurses in navigating complex patient pathways following the implementation of the electronic patient record system, HIVE. This role is ideal for individuals at various career stages, whether starting anew in the NHS, transitioning careers, or seeking diverse experiences within the Division of Medicine. Candidates should possess strong organisational and communication skills, be adaptable, and have good computer proficiency to manage inpatient and outpatient pathways effectively.
The position offers a variety of secretarial, administrative, and clerical roles across several hospital sites in Manchester, including Wythenshawe, Withington, and Trafford. Successful applicants may work within specific medical services and have opportunities for rotation and extended roles that support nursing teams. The Trust emphasises a culture of inclusion, career development, and well-being, aiming to create an exceptional integrated health and social care system for its patients.
Following the introduction of HIVE, our electronic patient record system, the roles and processes for our administrative staff have changed significantly. Our consultants and some of our specialist nurses need a new kind of support to help them support patients through our complex pathways. We are a fabulous team and are looking for new people to join us. You might be at the beginning of your career and want to gain some experience to grow into more senior administrative/managerial roles in the future. You might want a career change and move into the NHS for the first time. Or you might already on that journey and want to gain some difference experience in the Division of Medicine.
We’re looking for people who are keen to develop, are organised and adaptable. You do need to have good computer skills and be able to follow rules and regulations in terms of our responsibilities in managing patients waiting for appointments and treatments.
You will need to have good communication skills and enjoy working with different colleagues across the organisation. You should also feel comfortable talking to patients either on the telephone or face to face.
The roles we have available are a variety of secretarial, administrative, and clerical roles. Some would be managing general inpatient and outpatient pathways. Postholders may work in specific services such as Bone Health, TIA, Hospital at Home or Parkinsons Disease services. The positions would be across most of our hospital sites (Wythenshawe, Withington, and Trafford). A rotation for these roles may be available if the successful candidates are keen on gaining a variety of experience, and extended roles to support the nursing teams may also be available.
