Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ward Administrator to join the surgical emergency unit / Ward 17.
On this unit, no two days are the same: it is a fast paced environment that strives to provide excellent assessment, efficient treatment and high quality patient care.
SEU is a 20 bedded assessment unit that provides same day emergency care for a divers range of acutely unwell surgical patients. We also have a triage area that consists of 6 trolleys and 19 chairs, where we provide initial assessment for patients referred via their GP, Walk in centre or from A&E. In addition to this, we run an ambulatory clinic (Mon - Fri) which allows investigations, such as CT/Ultrasound scans to be done efficiently and at short notice. This clinic helps to prevent hospital admissions whilst positively impacting patient experience.
Main duties of the job
This role will involve assisting the team in the efficient running of the unit and welcoming surgical patients onto into the same day emergency care unit.
Good interpersonal skills and high standard of verbal and written communication. Be able to provide clerical support in the provision of urgent surgical care with an intense and emotionally challenging environment. We also require a caring attitude and motivation to learn and develop practice.
