We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Creative Arts Therapist to join a dedicated SEMH school in Kennington. This full-time, permanent role offers a competitive salary and the chance to create lasting positive change in the lives of students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
In this role, you will use your creative expertise - whether in art, music, drama, or another therapeutic medium - to support students' emotional well-being and foster their personal growth. Your interventions will help students develop essential coping strategies, build self-esteem, and navigate their challenges with confidence.
This role suits an empathetic, innovative professional who is passionate about making a difference. While prior experience working with SEMH students is desirable, it is not essential, as ongoing professional development will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative arts therapy sessions tailored to the needs of SEMH students.
- Collaborate with staff and external professionals to create holistic support plans.
- Monitor and record student progress, adapting approaches as necessary.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes emotional growth.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to ensure a collaborative approach.
- Adhere to school policies, particularly regarding safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Participate in training and team meetings to contribute to the wider school community.
Qualifications And Experience
- A recognized qualification in creative arts therapy (e.g., art, music, or drama therapy).
- Membership with a professional body (e.g., HCPC, BAAT, or BACP).
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A creative and empathetic approach to therapy.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
