The Clinical Health Psychology service grouping provides psychological services, in a variety of delivery methods, to the long term health condition specialty services in Northumbria Healthcare Trust . This includes diabetes, cardiology and respiratory. In order to support the clinical work of the teams and to evaluate and audit the success of the services interventions we are looking for an Assistant Psychologist. The post is an 8 month fixed term contract.
The delivery of clinical services is closely aligned to the NHCT's Clinical Strategy and Mental Health Strategy. This post holder will assist with a number of defined duties as agreed with the clinical service leads (psychologists) and the service manager.
Working under the guidance and supervision of qualified psychologists, the post holder will participate in clinical work such as the service's triage and screening pathway and providing support to and co-facilitate group interventions (for example a well-being group based on the CFT model).
The post holder will also support the evaluation of interventions and service quality improvements, and audit the standards of the service deliveries.

Assistant psychologists in the service are supported with a clear structure of clinical supervision and professional guidance, and individual personal development plans. You will be appraised regularly and support will be given for career development. The service has links with the regional doctorate programmes and provides regular placements.
The post holder will work autonomously within British Psychological Society and NHS Trust professional guidelines. Applicants must have completed or be about to complete an under-graduate degree in a subject that confers eligibility for graduate registration with the BPS.
