Drivers preferred due to city-wide coverage
Role Overview
21HSC is seeking an experienced Team Leader to join A Childrens Services team. This crucial role involves managing high-risk child protection cases, supporting and supervising staff, and liaising with various partners to ensure the best outcomes for children and families. Given the crisis nature of the work, they require a steady manager with strong decision-making and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent social work in the Initial Referral Discussion (IRD) process, conducting relevant background checks, inputting data into the e-IRD system, and updating partners until the conclusion is reached.
- Make key decisions on case allocations, ensuring high-risk, child protection cases are prioritised.
- Provide oversight and support in case management, ensuring timely assessments and appropriate interventions.
- Review staff reports to ensure high-quality casework and decision-making.
- Work closely with colleagues across social work, police, health, and education, facilitating discussions and negotiations to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery.
Experience And Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing a statutory child and families team, particularly with a focus on IRD decision-making and high-risk child protection work.
- Strong leadership and management experience, with the ability to support and guide staff through complex and fast-moving cases.
- In-depth knowledge of child protection procedures and experience of making key decisions on case allocations.
- Strong partnership working skills and the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with a range of professionals.
