Job Summary

The North and West Yorkshire Haemophilia Network encompass the Haemophilia Centres in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (adults and paediatrics), Bradford Royal Infirmary and York District hospital with a patient population of approximately 1800. Based at St Jamess Hospital, the post holder will care for adults with a variety of bleeding disorders.

Main duties of the job

The jobholder will be actively involved in providing direct and indirect compassionate care for patients in support of and supervised by a registered practitioner.

The jobholder will assist in the overall implementation of care as part of the multi professional team. The jobholder is expected to deliver and maintain high standards of acute and planned care. The jobholder will be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) to achieve the planned outcome.

The jobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effective care.

The jobholder will be expected to practice in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (LTHT) policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within the Knowledge and Skills framework (KSF) and defined competency boundaries

  • JOB DIMENSIONS

The jobholder will work within a ward or clinical department.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications

NVQ 2 in Health and Social care, Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Support, or equivalent health care related qualification

  • It may be necessary to complete additional modules within the first 12 months of employment to comply with Trust core module requirements

The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the jobholder must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.

Internal applicants only in the absence of a relevant level 2 healthcare qualification -

Experience within a Band 2 CSW post OR experience of providing care in a professional or personal capacity

Basic Maths and English Level 1 (GCSE 1-9 (A*-G)) or equivalent or a Level 1 pass in LTHT literacy and numeracy assessment

Experience

Substantial experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering clinical and or personal care (Internal Candidates please see guidance on the above qualification section)

Training

Commitment to undergo training and education as required within the role

It may be necessary to complete level 3 modules to meet service needs e.g. venepuncture.
