Job Summary

Are you a senior/ highly specialist or Principal family & systemic psychotherapist, currently working in CAMHS or Acute Adult Services, and looking for a challenge in working in a new intensive support specialist service, inpatient and community, based at Chalkhill.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and creative Principal family & systemic psychotherapist (8B) to work within the CAMHS Acute Care pathway. You will be providing interventions for young people and families needing an inpatient admission and be involved in an exciting new development of the intensive support specialist 7 day a week service, as an alternative to inpatient admission for Children and Young People experiencing acute mental health difficulties.

You will be part of developing the service to give children and young people living in Sussex a more appropriate and integrated range of services to meet their clinical needs. As the Principal family & systemic psychotherapist you will be part of the leadership and clinical team to ensure that young people and their families receive timely, targeted assessment and effective family & systemic interventions.

You will be a member of the leadership team and ensure service delivery and evaluation and will be working closely and supporting the Psychological Professions staff, as well as nursing, psychiatry, occupational therapy, psychologists, social worker and mental health practitioners.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Leadership Team for the service you will also be responsible for offering family & systemic psychotherapy, assessments, formulations and evidence based interventions. You will be joining a team which currently includes a Principal Psychologist, and a range of Psychological Professions. You will be supporting the professional and clinical supervision of these colleagues, and CAMHS colleagues as appropriate.

You will use your extensive clinical experience to assess and support the young person, alongside their parent and carer in order to enhance their clinical outcomes and quality of life.

The post is at band 8B and is 1 whole time, (5 days) and covers Chalkhill and the Sussex-wide intensive support specialist service.

You will receive supervision from the CAMHS Consultant family & systemic psychotherapists whose role covers the wider CAMHS services. You will have opportunities to network with Psychological Professionals across Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Perinatal and Early Intervention services in Sussex, as well as the wider Trust.

Experience working with families who are facing tough times and have a particular affinity for working with young people. Informal discussion is encouraged prior to application.
