NHS Scotland is seeking a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker for the Balcurvie ward in Windygates, where the focus is on providing high-quality, person-centered care for older patients in a 20-bedded recovery and adaptation unit. Candidates should have experience in elderly care and possess strong organisational and communication skills. A relevant SVQ qualification is desirable, and successful applicants will have the opportunity to undertake SVQ2 or SVQ3, funded by NHS Fife, approximately nine months after starting. Additionally, mandatory training in moving and handling techniques, as well as other clinical skills, will be provided.
The role requires adherence to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and proof of the right to work in the UK for non-UK nationals. An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 3 HCSW within Balcurvie ward, Cameron. Experience in Care of the older person is paramount.
Balcurvie ward is a 20 bedded recovery and adaptation ward. We strive to provide high quality, person centred care.
You must have excellent organisational skills, effective communication both verbal and written with skills. You must be a team player and have a genuine interest in working within this area. You will be required to have knowledge and experience to be able to support this role and an appropriate SVQ is desirable.
If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.
Mandatory training is essential as there is a high level of moving and handling techniques needed in this role
You will be supported in your role with ongoing training which includes the completion of cannulation, catheterisation and various other clinical skills.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
