Key responsibilities include monitoring patient pathways to ensure timely treatment, utilizing initiative to solve issues, and collaborating with team members to achieve both individual and organisational goals. The role emphasises the importance of streamlining processes to facilitate patient care while adhering to established waiting time standards.
The role involves proactively monitoring suspected and diagnosed cancer patients that present through the emergency route ensuring that their journey is processed in a timely and efficient manner.
It is essential that the post holder has a full understanding of the Cancer Waiting Times Targets and the impact these have on both patient and Trust.
It is very important that the post holder has excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in order of importance. It is also essential to be able to use your own initiative to resolve problems and also work as part of a team in order to meet personal and business objectives.
About us
The postholder will be expected to track suspected and diagnosed cancer patients through their hospital journey. This involves documenting each step in the Somerset Cancer Register and escalating any investigations or appointments which fall outside of the agreed timescales. It is imperative each pathway is streamlined so that patients can be treated within the nationally agreed Cancer Waiting Times.
