The Principal Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) position at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is focused on leading the Speech and Language therapy services within neurodevelopmental diagnostic pathways and the Transforming Care autism team in Sussex. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to assess neurodevelopmental conditions and provide interventions for autistic individuals, particularly those at risk of inpatient care. Responsibilities include supervising other SLTs, holding a clinical caseload of clients aged 14 and older with complex mental health needs, and developing training programs to enhance support for communication needs related to autism and neurodiversity.

This role requires strategic leadership and collaborative efforts with the neurodevelopmental services (NDS) and integrated care board (ICB) members to establish clear pathways for SLT assessments. The Principal SLT will also emphasize neuroaffirmative practices and actively participate in creating supportive environments for neurodivergent individuals within the service. Flexibility to assess patients outside the immediate area may be required, promoting a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of the neurodiverse population in Sussex.
