They will have the opportunity to undertake the national Care Certificate within 12 weeks, which provides foundational training in care standards. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate nursing notes, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and helping service users maintain their independence. The role integrates proactive communication and collaboration with other services to ensure seamless care and support for those in recovery.
We are excited to advertise a Healthcare Assistant post for our Acute Assessment Ward, OAK 3, based at the Edith Cavell site. The Cavell is an accessible site with free parking, a caf on site and a beautiful modern design with new wards.
At CPFT our adult inpatient wards operate an exciting, ambitious model of care, known as the 3-3-3 model, focussed on providing the right care at the right time. The three wards work together to provide the best care and support possible; Oak 3 our Acute Assessment Unit, where patients stay up to 3 days, Oak 1, our Treatment ward, where patients stay up to 3 weeks, and Oak 4, our Recovery Unit, where patients stay up to 3 months.
We need a charismatic, energetic, enthusiastic health care assistant to support the provision of evidence-based treatment and work with our multi-disciplinary team to support our service users in their recovery.
You may be required to undertake and successfully complete the new national Care Certificate within a 12 weeks' timeframe if you meet our criteria. You will receive full training and support and The Care Certificate sets out 15 national care standards that must be achieved by all health and social care staff to demonstrate that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe and excellent quality of care. It is a foundation programme which can provide the first steps to career development within the NHS.

If you are successful, we will support you in providing quality evidence-based nursing care for our service users with mental and physical health needs. As a Health Care Assistant, you will interact frequently with carers and families providing support and advice where appropriate.
You will be working as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and will be responsible for tasks under the general supervision of a registered nurse including assisting in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care on a rotational shift basis.
We will expect you to have a good level of knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.

To promote a positive service user experience throughout their stay through proactive listening, being responsive to issues raised and through resolving issues and concerns raised by service users with colleagues and senior members of the team. To be responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards service users, carers, colleagues, and other agencies, at all times. To participate in working collaboratively with other Trust services and external agencies to provide seamless care for service users. To provide service users with personal care, where and when required, and demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect, and compassion at all times. To understand the importance of the relatives/carers contribution to care and conversing with the service users and their relatives/carers, establishing their needs, and assisting them as necessary. Ensuring that any entries made by the post holder in the nursing notes are current, relevant, and accurate, and the content will then be reported & counter signed by the registered nurse or relevant professional. Working in partnership with the service user to access a range of activities and services to maintain their independence. Promoting healthy activities and lifestyle choices. To promote and support registered staff with the physical health, comfort, and wellbeing of service users, including physical observations and taking blood pressure, temperature and pulse under their guidance and supervision. Empower service users by ensuring that they receive relevant information about their treatment, medication, available services, advocacy services, ward routines and safety procedures under the guidance of a registered nurse.
