An opportunity has arisen for motivated and reliable individuals to join a small friendly team committed to providing an efficient and effective countywide Transport service for Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicants must be reliable, able to work flexibly and be committed to providing a quality service. No formal qualifications are needed for the post as full training will be given, but excellent communication skills and previous customer service experience will be an advantage.
This is a highly responsible role covering some on-site portering duties and all elements of driving (both on and off site)
You will need to have a full clean driving licence (minimum of 2 years)
The Transport Team provide the Trust with the transportation link between all 9 hospitals, smaller Trust sites, Acute Hospitals and all GP Surgeries in the South of the County.
The post holder will be working on a rotational basis to ensure all routes are covered as a service continuity is imperative to the Trust. After training, Drivers need to be confident on all routes and be able to interchange at short notice.
Drivers handle complex items such as Medication, Controlled Medication, Medical Records, Samples, Forensic Samples, Blood, Internal Post and any other items needed to be Transported on an adhoc basis.
Drivers need to be familiar with and comply with the Trust's Vehicle/Driver procedure as a number of the items being transported are of a sensitive nature and to ensure legal compliance/security of the items strict procedures need to be followed.
Drivers are both driving NHFT sign written vehicles but also representing the Trust throughout the day so must be smart, in full uniform and wear protective clothing issued to them at all times. They should also ensure that their vehicles are fully secured, clean and tidy both inside and out at all times. Drivers need to be familiar with their vehicles and able to carry out minor repairs as necessary.
