Wellspring Medical Centre in Risca is seeking a part-time General Practice Nurse to join their team of nurses and healthcare assistants. The role offers a competitive salary equivalent to Band 6, dependent on skills and experience, along with support for professional development including generous study time. The ideal candidate should have completed relevant education in general practice nursing and possess comprehensive knowledge in areas such as wound management, ECGs, spirometry, and long-term condition management, particularly for diabetes and respiratory issues. A strong interest and qualifications in sexual health and cervical screening are also preferred.

The Practice Nurse will be responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing services to the practice population, focusing on disease prevention, monitoring, health promotion, and the management of both acute and chronic health needs. This role requires autonomous practice, critical thinking, and strong clinical decision-making skills. The nurse will collaborate within the general practice team to ensure effective patient care, adherence to policies, and provide nursing leadership as needed.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, part-time General Practice Nurse to join our team of Nurses and HCAs. Remuneration will be equivalent to Band6 depending on skills, experience and education. Salary and working hours to be agreed. We offer a good level of support for professional development, including generous study time.

We would like to meet someone who has completed educational preparation to work in general practice, and who has knowledge and skills in all aspects of general practice nursing.

We are looking for someone with skills and competence to provide;

treatment room care such as for wound assessment and management, ECGs, spirometry, anticoagulant monitoring etc

support for management of long-term conditions, including diabetes and respiratory conditions

vaccinations and immunisations for all ages, including the childhood vaccination programme.

In particular, we are looking for someone with an interest and qualifications in sexual health and cervical screening.

Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of general practice nursing services to the registered practice population. The focus of the role is on the provision of evidence-based care in respect of disease prevention and early detection, disease monitoring and management, health promotion, supporting acute health needs and management plans, and providing proactive support and shared management for patients with long-term conditions. As an autonomous and competent practitioner the post holder is responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making in the management and monitoring of patients health needs. In addition, they will work collaboratively within the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, support the delivery of policy and procedures, and provide nursing leadership where required.
