The role of Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with NELFT North East London Foundation Trust involves coordinating school-based therapy in Thurrock or Basildon, providing full-time, part-time, or job-share opportunities for enthusiastic therapists. The position requires candidates to have a recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC registration, and emphasises the assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention for children with communication disorders. Successful candidates will work alongside a supportive team, delivering high-quality care and education, while also developing training programs for school staff and managing their own caseload effectively.

Additional responsibilities include devising and implementing specialized care plans, providing valuable training to parents and multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to integrated care strategies for children with communication difficulties. Could you be our coordinator for school based therapy in Thurrock or Basildon as part of the balanced system approach? We have full time, part time or job-share band 6 posts available for enthusiastic, innovative therapists who would love to become part of our well-established team. We will support you to develop specialist skills and to work in schools as a link therapist alongside our specialist therapists. You might be an experienced band 5 who is ready to move into this position and we can discuss the banding and the support needed to move you to this role.

This post will be based in Thurrock or Basildon as part of a team working across Brentwood and Basildon providing a service for children presenting with communication disorders

As a successful candidate you will have a recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree and HCPC registration
You will assess, diagnose and provide therapy interventions to children with developmental language disorders and specific speech disorders
You will develop education colleagues to support communication development by providing training as a link therapist
You will organise, plan and prioritise your own work load, and that of therapy and assistant staff, and demonstrate the ability to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills - including observation, listening and empathy skills, to enable you to work to support the individual needs of the schools, staff and pupils.
