Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Geriatrician to join their team, focusing on service developments related to Frailty, Movement Disorder, Dementia, Delirium, and Community Geriatrics. The hospital serves a population of 400,000, with a notably high percentage of older patients and a significant number of care home residents, leading to an increased incidence of frailty. The role involves collaborating closely with fellow Geriatricians and a multidisciplinary team to assess and manage frail older patients, primarily those admitted from the Emergency Department using a 'Home First' approach.

Key responsibilities include providing in-reach support to the Emergency Department, ensuring comprehensive assessments and senior decision-making for frail patients, and participating in the out-of-hours DME on-call rota, which includes an additional on-call supplement. The position may evolve as part of the department's structural review to enhance patient care delivery.

More about the NHS
The National Health Service (NHS) is a cornerstone of healthcare in the United Kingdom, established in 1948 with the simple yet profound principle of providing healthcare to all citizens, free at the point of use. This revolutionary system aimed to ensure that access to medical services would not depend on an individual’s financial situation, a concept that has since become fundamental to British societal values.Learn more...
