The role of "Clinical Document Coder" at East Lancashire Alliance (ELA) encompasses extracting and analyzing clinical information from patient health records, both manual and computerized, and assigning appropriate clinical codes in compliance with established regulations and protocols. The position requires the coder to maintain accuracy, as this impacts the practice's revenue generation, and offers support to cover absences among coding staff. The successful candidate will work autonomously on routine coding tasks while being accountable for managing their workload, resolving queries, and effectively communicating with the coding team and medical staff.

Additionally, confidentiality and compliance with information governance are paramount, as the post-holder will handle sensitive patient and organisational data. They are also expected to uphold health and safety standards, contribute to quality improvement, and foster effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
