The Substance Misuse Practitioner role at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust in Sheerness involves providing specialized care for offenders within one of the UK's largest prisons. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality primary care and substance misuse services. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, facilitating group and individual interventions, managing challenging caseloads, and ensuring continuity of care through collaboration with various healthcare teams. The role emphasises the importance of a psychologically informed approach to help offenders improve their health outcomes and engage with the healthcare system.

Ideal candidates for this position should possess a nursing background, preferably with experience in substance misuse or mental health, though such experience is not mandatory as full training will be provided. Applicants must be willing to undergo National Security Vetting due to the prison setting. The role requires a commitment to evidence-based practices, effective communication with other healthcare and prison staff, and the ability to navigate the complexities of offender care, all while adapting to the unique and dynamic prison environment.
