The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Altered Airway Specialist Nurse to join their ENT/Head and Neck team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role involves caring for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies, managing both inpatient and community caseloads for individuals with acute and chronic airway issues. A valid driving license is essential, as the nurse will provide support for patients across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. Candidates should possess previous experience with tracheostomy or laryngectomy care, coupled with teaching skills to educate patients, families, and staff on airway management.

The successful specialist nurse will deliver expert clinical practice utilizing evidence-based guidelines and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. Key responsibilities include conducting holistic patient assessments, providing a telephone advice service, advising on medication needs, and participating in performance reviews related to clinical services. The role also supports continuous professional development and focuses on improving patient outcomes within the scope of the specialty.
