The role of AMHP Trainee with Livewell Southwest in Plymouth involves working within the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) service while preparing for AMHP training, expected to begin in 2026. The trainee will provide mental health support as part of the Joint Response Unit (JRU), collaborating with police to assess and assist individuals facing mental health crises in the community. The position requires participation in a 24/7 shift pattern, including an on-call rota upon qualification as an AMHP, and may involve working across various teams to support individuals with complex mental health needs.

The successful candidate is expected to complete their AMHP training, which will enable them to conduct statutory assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983. If they do not complete the training or opt out, they may be reassigned to another role within the organisation.
