An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced healthcare assistants to join the Garner ward team.

Garner ward is Cornwall's specialist dementia inpatient service, caring for individuals living with dementia and detained under the Mental Health Act. The ward is a busy and dynamic environment catering for those with complex needs and

Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia. Garner ward adopts least restrictive practice measures and works with a multi-disciplinary team of consultant psychiatrists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychology, nurses, housekeepers and our valuable healthcare assistants.

We are looking for motivated individuals with experience in caring for those living with dementia. Full time and part time hours considered.

  • To collaborate in the delivery of healthcare with older people who are inpatients, and with members of the multidisciplinary team
  • To meet the needs of the people and their families through collaborative working with a named nurse and ward team
  • To report to qualified staff progress of people who are in-patients and anyvariance/change in the person's conditions/circumstances that would indicatea need for a change in the programme of care
  • Provide direct patient physical care on a daily basis
  • To participate in therapeutic activities on an individual or group basis
