Trust Fellow in Cross-Sectional Cardiovascular Imaging

Applications are invited for a post as Trust Fellow in Cross-sectional Cardiovascular Imaging (MRI & CT) based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. This post is fixed term, one-year duration, and is suitable for a person with senior training in paediatric cardiology, in adult cardiology with an interest in grown-up congenital heart disease, or in radiology.
The post-holder will gain 12 months of expert training and clinical experience in the cross-sectional imaging of paediatric and adult congenital heart disease and of paediatric acquired cardiovascular disease, in one of leading cardiovascular imaging centres in the world. The postholder will mainly focus on MRI but there are also opportunities in CT.
No on-call commitment.
The unit provides a complete spectrum of advanced medical and surgical services for children with congenital and acquired heart disease, which includes specialist activity in pulmonary hypertension, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation, tracheal disease, thoracic surgery as well as both heart and lung transplantation.

The post holder will be responsible for the continued delivery of Cardiovascular Imaging Services at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
Specific duties will be dependent on relevant skills and experience.
The post holder will be required to attend more clinical scanning sessions per week, at least two but usual practice is to attend more than this number especially with increasing experience. For these lists they will carry the initial, primary responsibility for planning image acquisition, assisting the radiographer with image optimisation, post-processing the images, volumetric and flow quantification, and report writing. This will be carried out under the supervision of the consultant in charge of each list. The post holder will as a part of a team of fellows be responsible for the primary cover of all the clinical scanning lists each week.
Considerate and cooperative behaviour will be required at all times.
Conscientious and safe patient care is the priority of our Unit and is required from all persons involved in MRI scanning.
