The Advanced Mental Health Practitioner for the Police Mental Health Joint Response Car (PMHJRC) will collaborate with Cambridgeshire Constabulary to provide immediate support for individuals in mental health crises. The role involves responding to 999 calls, conducting brief triage assessments to determine if individuals can remain safely at home, and offering safety planning and referrals to mental health services as needed. The practitioner will also assist police officers in making decisions regarding the Mental Health Act, particularly in relation to S.136, while ensuring a collaborative approach to ongoing care.

Working mostly from 3pm to 2am, the successful candidate must possess strong knowledge of local mental health services and legislative frameworks, including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. Additionally, independent travel across the county is required, necessitating a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle. The role emphasises clinical expertise and aims to enhance the patient experience through effective collaboration with various health and social care providers. Candidates will undergo police vetting as part of the hiring process.
