Originally founded in 1823, Seashell Trust is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The trust consists of the Royal School Manchester (RSM), Royal College Manchester (RCM), 17 residential care homes, outreach, health and family services all based on one campus site. We provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment, communication disorders and autism. We are recruiting a manual handling practitioner to support across the whole organisation. The Manual Handling Co-ordinator will promote the safe handling and represent the organisation, in dealing in all manual handling situations, including legal situations. We are recruiting this position on a part-time basis and although you will not be working more than 15 hours per week with no regular weekend and evening shifts, we are looking for someone who is able to offer some flexibility to work outside of normal hours as needed e.g. training night staff.
Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of manual handling policies, procedures, handling documentation and audit tools. Support the use of evidence-based risk assessments for complex handling situations. Identify and evaluate a range of handling equipment to meet the needs of the organisation. Design, deliver and evaluate a range of training programmes for staff to meet the need of the organisation. Contributes to the design, interpretation and resulting action plans from audits and accident investigations. Contribute to a positive health and safety culture within the Trust
