The Lead Social Worker for Sussex CAMHS Acute in Haywards Heath will play a pivotal role in establishing a new service aimed at delivering timely interventions for young people aged 12-18 experiencing acute mental health difficulties. This position involves both collaborative and autonomous work within a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on assessing needs, implementing interventions, and managing partnerships to support young individuals and their families during crises. Key responsibilities include overseeing the supported discharge pathway, reducing inpatient lengths of stay, and advocating for young people to ensure smooth transitions back into their local networks.

In addition to direct clinical work, which comprises up to 60% of the role, the Lead Social Worker will provide clinical leadership, supervision, and strategic development for social work services in the CAMHS Acute Intensive Home Treatment Team. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, contributing to service planning, recruitment, and training of staff. This role also emphasises evidence-based practice, continuous evaluation of interventions, and adherence to professional standards to promote high-quality care for young people and their families.
