Job description
Consultant in Respiratory Medicine
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is excited to invite applications for the position of Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with a special interest in Lung Cancer. This is a unique opportunity to join a progressive and innovative team that is focused on advancing lung cancer services and improving patient outcomes.
Our department is undertaking significant advancements, including the introduction of the Targeted Lung Health Check Cancer Screening across the region. Alongside this we are developing our Pleural and EBUS services. These developments are central to our mission of providing exceptional, patient-focused care and enhancing support for people affected by lung cancer.
We areseeking motivated, dynamic, and collaborative individuals to contribute to the ongoing development of our inpatient and outpatient respiratory services. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping service delivery while upholding the highest standards of clinical care.
Our lung cancer service, which diagnoses over 400 cases annually, is supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including colleagues from tertiary surgical centres, oncology therapies, and a specialist nursing and administrative team. We are excited to be launching a lung cancer screening service this year, in collaboration with our Cancer Alliance partners. Additionally, we are expanding our Pleural Service to streamline diagnostic pathways and enhance the patient experience for those requiring pleural procedures such as intrapleural catheters (IPC).
Candidates will have the opportunity to further develop their expertise in lung cancer care, pleural disease, and interventional procedures (such as endobronchial ultrasound and IPC insertions), along with involvement in future service developments such as thoracoscopy.
We are committed to excellence and seek consultants who are passionate about driving service improvements and advancing patient care. If you're eager to make a difference in lung cancer care and respiratory medicine, we would love to hear from you.
