The Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is looking for a dedicated and experienced HCPC-registered Senior Biomedical Scientist to join their Dermatology team in Newport and provide a high-quality Mohs technical service. The role involves conducting investigations on tissue samples to diagnose diseases and monitor patient treatments, while ensuring compliance with Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) and ISO 15189 standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and organisation of the Mohs section, delivering a patient-focused laboratory service within budget constraints. Key responsibilities include overseeing all technical aspects of the Mohs service, maintaining departmental records, ensuring staff adherence to current policies, and representing both Histology and Dermatology in relevant meetings. The individual will also act as a deputy for the Operational Manager in their absence.

About us
Carry out investigations on samples of tissue to diagnose disease and monitor the treatment of patients.
Assist in the provision of reliable and accurate analytical data for the Trust, in accordance with Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) and ISO 15189 standards and to be responsible for the organisation and management of the section.
Work as part of a team to deliver, within budget, a patient-orientated Mohs laboratory service to contribute to efficient and effective care.
Be responsible for all technical aspects of the Mohs service based in Dermatology, and to deputise for the Operational Manager as required in their absence, as required.
To maintain all associated departmental records and documentation related to this area.
To ensure that all staff are aware of current policies and procedures regarding the Mohs technique.
To represent both Histology and Dermatology at meetings and updates involving the Mohs technique.
