The Newbury Older Peoples Mental Health Service and Memory Clinic is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our friendly and supportive team. We are a multi-disciplinary team with specialist skills in caring for older people with mental health needs, and people with dementia. We are looking for someone with a passion for working with this client group. You will mainly co-ordinate and undertake evidence-based group work for people with dementia (Cognitive Stimulation Therapy). You will also contribute to formulation, neuropsychological assessments and/or psychological interventions under supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.
You will also spend a day a week as a research assistant with the BHFT Research Team, promoting engagement with research amongst Memory Clinic patients. You will be working primarily on studies with people with dementia, identifying, recruiting and supporting patients through the research process, and collecting and managing accurate data.
You will receive regular individual supervision, with opportunities for continuing professional development. You will attend trust-wide psychology meetings.
Work base:
Hillcroft House, Rooke's Way, Thatcham. Berkshire. (West Berkshire Community Hospital site)
Working pattern and service operating hours:
Normal rota hours are 9-5pm. This is a full-time, permanent post for 1WTE (37.5 hours per week).
